STAIN REMOVAL ON CARPET

Removing stains from carpet can be made worse by using supermarket products that are misleading and incorrectly labelled.

Stop experimenting and risking permanent staining to your carpets or fabric upholstery. It happens often when people unknowingly place their trust in a product at the supermarket just because its label says; “Carpet Stain Remover” or Carpet Spot Remover” etc. The problem is not just with the misleading label, but with how the product performs with the type of fiber and the chemical make up of the spill itself. That makes three (3) variable components which multiply the difficulty of effectively removing the stain so that it is no longer visible. There is no single stain remover that “does it all”, and even though the science of stain removal is relatively advanced, professional technicians cannot guarantee 100% removal under some circumstances.

Perhaps the most susceptible to staining are the “natural” fibers like wool, linen and cotton. These are very unforgiving when stained, in particular an acid based spill such as orange juice, urine or even vomit can cause permanent staining if not treated immediately. Carpet and fabric protection is an excellent way to increase the resistance of these items to all manner of liquid spills, spots and soiling.

Carpet protection applied every 3 years with regular vacuuming and quality steam cleaning annually will keep your carpet performing well and looking like new. But should you find a spot or accidentally spill something on your carpet best advice is to phone Noosa Prestige Cleaning Services for instructions on what to do.  It helps to know:

  1. type of carpet you have
  2. What caused the stain
  3. What is the spill or spot if known
  4. how long has it been there
  5. What have you done to treat it (if any)

Though we don’t recommend you experiment with your carpet and home cleaning products, things you may try that are unlikely to make the stain permanent are soda water, damp cloth, gumption, white vinegar.

We do not recommend using salt, metho, nail polish remover, lemon juice.

To avoid causing a reaction between the chemical of the spill, the carpet fiber and the cleaning product, you can call us with the details of your spill and we will advise over the phone if there is a chance of removing it yourself or if it needs extraction using professional equipment. Some things are obvious and it may be a case that due to the size and mess created, you just contact Noosa Prestige for a technician to visit asap.

Rates for stain removal are fixed for the first half hour, after which an hourly rate is applied. We have a minimum rate for stain removal work, which is charged whether the stain is removed or permanent and unable to be removed.

In most cases, we know before commencing if the spot or spill is able to be fully removed.
