Carpets and upholstery fabrics are often the subject of a spill or accident that ideally requires professional assistance to successfully remove.
Some carpets and fabrics, or more to the point -fibers, have a higher stain resistance than others. But it can be a complex issue if the stain is from an unknown source. It is therefore very important to know what created the stain in the first place. Just as important is knowing the specific type of fiber the carpet is made from. There are many types of carpet fiber, the most common being:
- Pure Wool
- Nylon
- Polypropylene
- Wool/Nylon Mix
Noosa Prestige is experienced in stain treatment and removal on most surfaces and fibers including, vinyl, leather, wool, linen, nylon, polypropylene. Where possible we aim to assist over the phone if evidence is clearly supportive of the stain being removed without professional equipment.
Beware using common cleaning chemicals promoted in the supermarket. Most of the time they make the stain worse by changing the chemical action causing permanency. Experimenting with your carpet to remove a stain can be disastrous where in the end you may have the cost of replacing carpet. It’s a good idea to contact your professional cleaning specialist immediately and get instructions that will assist the removal of the stain rather than make it worse.
Often we find whole pieces of furniture stained and heavily soiled like the sofa below. We regard this as a stain removal job because much of the lounge was covered in mould, spills, dog slobber and who knows what else. It was kept in the games room and as such received a lot of use over many years. It was also the favorite seat for one of the owner’s dogs, and upon initial inspection we were worried there would be permanent stains even after cleaning. At the customer’s insistence, we went ahead applying our specialist cleaning process. the lounge was transformed back to almost original condition. Everyone was happy with the result.
Often the safest approach with unknown fabrics or carpet fibers that have been stained with unknown substances, is to avoid treating stains with any chemicals. Without professional advice the risk of the stain becoming permanent is increased, especially where the addition of further chemicals are used without knowing the chemical effect on the stain or the substance causing the stain. For many types of stains we carry a range of specialist stain removal solutions. All stains should be carefully considered and treated because without the correct approach, we might only get one chance to remove it, as opposed to making it worse.
For this reason, and the many unknown factors involved, the service of stain removal cannot be guaranteed in some cases. This means when treating stains of an unknown origin, the customer needs to be aware that the desired result may not be 100%, but anywhere from 5% to 95%. The successful treatment of a stain may also require follow up by the cleaning technician the next day. This means that Noosa Prestige advise all customers that any residual effect of treating a stain may not be known until the fiber is completely dry following treatment. Where there is any secondary staining or residual effect of treatment, the technician will be able to complete the stain removal once the primary stage is complete.
